Norev – Renault 8 Gordini "Tour de Corse 1965"
Scale model of a race car, the Renault 8 Gordini "Tour de Corse 1965", made by Norev. This example is reference 423397, included in the "Les P'tites Legendes Sportives" series. It is made in China, I don't know its production period. Metal body painted in blue, with printed details, including racing number "116". Black plastic base. Glazing represented in transparent plastic with details molded in the windshield. Interior details in black plastic. Detailed plastic rims with metallic gray finish, plastic tires with molded details. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:54 and the overall length is approximately 2.9 in. About 1.4 oz. This model represents a race car, the Renault 8 Gordini 1100 of the Régie Renault team, driven by the duo Pierre Orsini–Jean-Baptiste Canonici to victory in the "X Tour de Corse 1965".
Given my passion for the formidable Alpine A110, it's natural that I'm interested in the Renault Dauphine and Renault 8 that contributed to its creation. They too, properly prepared and driven by virtuoso drivers, proved to be formidable threats to more muscular opponents in various contexts. This Norev miniature reproduces the Renault 8 Gordini 1100 winner of the "1965 Tour de Corse"—and does so very well. The casting is excellent and perfectly captures the proportions and stance of the original—I particularly like the subtle creases on the hood and roof. It's just a shame that the turn signals are missing. The well-detailed front, once again features plastic headlights that contribute to the realism. To go a step further, perfectionists with a knack for modeling can add four headlights, as seen in the "116"—yes, eight headlights! The paint job is of good quality, as is the application of the printed details—the tiny Renault diamond is noteworthy. The definition of the accents on the taillights and bumpers could be better—but the difficulty is understandable. The treatment given to the interior and wheels is very good, especially on this small scale—the rims are impeccable. And on my two examples, the "tenue de route" is surprisingly good! As for the Renault Gordinis, the Dauphine and the 8, I don't remember seeing them in top-level competition ¹. After the era of the Alpine A110, Lancia Stratos HF, Fiat 131 Abarth, Opel Kadett GTE and Ford Escort RS1800, during the first half of the eighties, at the height of my interest in rallies (when I skipped school to listen to radio reports of the grueling stages), the "monsters" were already reigning supreme—Audi Quattro, Lancia 037, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200, Peugeot 205 T16, Lancia Delta S4 and Renault 5 Turbo. But, every now and then, I still heard stories from the times when audacious popular sedans like the Renault 8 Gordini stole the top spots. ●

Dado a minha paixão pelos formidáveis Alpine A110, é natural o meu interesse pelos Renault Dauphine e Renault 8 que contribuíram para o seu nascimento. Também eles, devidamente preparados e conduzidos por pilotos virtuosos, se revelaram em diversos contextos temíveis ameaças a opositores mais musculados. Esta miniatura da Norev reproduz o Renault 8 Gordini 1100 vencedor do "Tour de Corse 1965"—e fá-lo muito bem. O molde é excelente e capta na perfeição as proporções e postura do original—gosto muito dos subtis vincos no capot e no tejadilho. Só é pena faltarem os "piscas". Na frente bem detalhada, mais uma vez os faróis em plástico contribuem para o realismo. Para ir um pouco mais longe, os perfeccionistas com jeito para o modelismo podem adicionar quatro faróis, presentes no "116"—sim, oito faróis! A pintura é de boa qualidade, assim como a aplicação dos detalhes impressos—o minúsculo losango Renault é notável. A definição dos destaques nas luzes traseiras e nos pára-choques podia ser melhor—mas compreende-se a dificuldade. O tratamento dado ao interior e às rodas é muito bom, sobretudo a esta pequena escala—as jantes são irrepreensíveis. E nos meus dois exemplares, a "tenue de route" é surpreendentemente boa! Quanto aos Renault Gordini, o Dauphine e o 8, não me lembro de os ver em competição de primeira linha ¹. Depois da era dos Alpine A110, Lancia Stratos HF, Fiat 131 Abarth, Opel Kadett GTE e Ford Escort RS1800, durante a primeira metade dos anos oitenta, no auge do meu interesse pelos rallies (quando faltava à escola para ouvir na rádio os relatos das duríssimas etapas), eram já os "monstros" a reinar sobre a terra—Audi Quattro, Lancia 037, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200, Peugeot 205 T16, Lancia Delta S4 e Renault 5 Turbo. Mas, de vez em quando, ainda ouvia histórias dos tempos em que audaciosas berlinas populares como o Renault 8 Gordini roubavam os primeiros lugares. ●
