Yatming – '66 Malibu Streetrat


Scale model of an automobile, the '66 Malibu Streetrat, made by Yatming ¹. This example is reference 1074 in the Fastwheel series. It is made in Hong Kong, possibly in the 1980s. Metal body painted in yellow, with orange and black stripes over the hood, roof and deck lid. Metal base, unpainted. Glazing represented in transparent plastic. Interior details in cream plastic. Plastic wheels, rims with chrome finish. With suspension. Opening doors. The overall length is approximately 3 in. About 1.4 oz. This model represents an automobile, the '66 Malibu Streetrat, possibly based on the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS 396 hardtop coupe, equipped with the big-block 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8 engine.

A yellow automobile is not for everyone’s taste. But on muscle cars, high visual impact stock colors are common, usually associated with delirious names such as Green Go or Top Banana or Big Bad Orange, or even Cougar Eliminator. All-black muscle cars, with a sinister and aggressive presence, are there too. But this is an era where driving a pink automobile with white interiors can be a manly thing, especially if we’ve got at least 300 wild horses under the hood. As a note of interest, I believe the expression Street Rat denotes a street legal custom car equipped with a big-block Chevy engine. This car, the '66 Malibu Streetrat, is in my collection under the themes American Vehicles and Muscle Cars & Hot Rods. ●

Carroçaria em metal pintada em amarelo, com faixas cor de laranja e pretas ao longo do capot, tejadilho e tampa da bagageira. Base em metal, sem pintura. Vidros representados em plástico transparente. Detalhes interiores em plástico creme. Rodas em plástico, jantes com acabamento cromado. Com suspensão. Abre as portas. O comprimento total é de aproximadamente 75 mm. Cerca de 41 g. Este modelo representa um automóvel, o '66 Malibu Streetrat, possivelmente baseado no Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS 396 hardtop coupe de 1966, equipado com o motor V8 big-block 396 cu in (6.5 L).

Um automóvel amarelo não é do gosto de todos. Mas nos muscle cars, cores de série com alto impacto visual são comuns, geralmente associadas a nomes delirantes como Green Go ou Top Banana ou Big Bad Orange, ou mesmo Cougar Eliminator. Muscle cars totalmente pretos, de presença sinistra e agressiva, também estão lá. Mas esta é uma época em que dirigir um automóvel cor-de-rosa com interiores brancos pode ser uma coisa muito masculina, sobretudo se tivermos pelo menos 300 cavalos selvagens sob o capot. Como nota de interesse, creio que a expressão Street Rat denota um carro personalizado apto a circular na via pública e equipado com um motor Chevy big-block. Este automóvel, o '66 Malibu Streetrat, encontra-se na minha colecção sob os temas Veículos Americanos e Muscle Cars & Hot Rods. ●

This series of 16 miniatures appears in 1970 associated with the Rajá ice cream brand, which offers a figurine on each ice cream purchased. Monochrome plastic, various colors. Novacar – Brief Introduction

Novacar is a series of small toy cars with plastic bodies and die-cast metal bases, available between 1994 and 1996. It is made in Portugal by Majorette through a subsidiary company, Minia Porto, based in Baltar, about 20 km from Porto. The series includes at least 19 references, comprising a wide choice of vehicles, from race cars to an American tractor truck, no trailer provided, in scales around the 1:64th. The " Novacar " series or " Série 100 " appears in Majorette's 1994, 1995 and 1996 catalogs. The word "Novacar" clearly derives from the expression "new car", denoting a sense of freshness and innovation. The catalogs show photos of each reference, 101 to 121, as well as of the packaging options. Efsi – T-Ford 1919 Panel Van

Scale model of a panel van, the T-Ford 1919 , made by Efsi   ¹ . This example is reference 04, included in the "Old Timers" series. It is made in Holland, possibly in the early 1980s. Metal body painted in brown, including brown fenders and running boards. Silver metal base. No windshield, windows without glazing. Interior details in white plastic. Plastic tires reproducing the shoulder blocks, rims in yellow. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:62 and the overall length is approximately 2.3 in. About 1.6 oz. This model represents a panel van derived from the 1919  Ford Model T . It is made by Efsi in several versions. It is also used as the basis for the ambulance and fire engine versions.
