CF – Nissan Bluebird Turbo

Scale model of an automobile, the Nissan Bluebird Turbo, made by CF. This example is reference CF 302, included in the "Mini Car" series. It is made in Hong Kong, possibly in the 1990s. Metal body painted in dark pinkish red ("burgundy"?). "Chrome" plastic base. Glazing represented in transparent plastic. Interior details in light cream. "Chrome" plastic rims, fitted with rubber tires. No suspension. Opening doors. Pull-back mechanism. License plate "CF 302". The nominal scale is 1:64 and the overall length is approximately 2.8 in. About 1.1 oz. This model represents an automobile, possibly a 1983 Nissan Bluebird 1800 Turbo SSS-X-G (U11), equipped with the 110.5 cu in (1809 cm³), 135 hp (100 kW) Nissan Plasma CA18E-T "L4" engine. Top speed around 99 mph. 

Without access to any type of document, telling the story of CF is an impossible task. As far as I know, at some point, possibly in the late 1980s, this Hong Kong-based manufacturer proposed an interesting mini-series of six models "borrowed" from the Tomica line, featuring small pull-back mechanisms, wheels with rubber tires and excellent quality finishes. Later, and with the castings at the end of their lifespan, low-cost versions appeared, without mechanisms, with plastic wheels and poor finishes. This Nissan Bluebird Turbo is one of the six models from CF's golden period, possibly the rehabilitation and adaptation of the Nissan Bluebird 1800 Turbo SSS-XG, reference 17, produced by Tomica between 1981 and 1984. The metal base gives way to a plastic one, fixed to the bodywork by two screws and equipped with a pull-back mechanism. The plastic wheels give way to beautiful chrome wheels fitted with rubber tires. The interior is necessarily modified at the rear to hide the pull-back mechanism. The result is surprising and, in some ways, superior to the original. According to the article "CF – Making Quality Copies" published in "Planet Diecast", these models would cost about half the price of Tomica's, which, considering their added play value, would have been an excellent sales pitch. In Portugal, in the 1990s, I don't remember seeing them for sale, which is a shame – I would have bought them all. ●

Este modelo representa um automóvel, possivelmente um Nissan Bluebird 1800 Turbo SSS-X-G de 1983, equipado com o motor Nissan Plasma CA18E-T "L4" de 110.5 cu in (1809 cm³) e 135 hp (100 kW). Velocidade máxima na ordem dos 160 km/h. 

Sem acesso a qualquer tipo de documentos, contar a história da CF é uma tarefa impossível. Tanto quanto julgo saber, a dada altura, possivelmente no final dos anos oitenta, este fabricante baseado em Hong Kong propõe uma interessante mini-série de seis modelos "emprestados" da gama Tomica, com pequenos mecanismos de mola, rodas com pneus em borracha e acabamentos de excelente qualidade. Mais tarde e com os moldes em fim de vida, surgem ainda versões de baixo custo, sem mecanismos, com rodas de plástico e acabamentos sofríveis. Este Nissan Bluebird Turbo é um dos seis modelos do período dourado da CF, possivelmente a reabilitação e adaptação do Nissan Bluebird 1800 Turbo SSS-XG, referência 17, produzido pela Tomica entre 1981 e 1984. A base em metal dá lugar a uma em plástico, fixada à carroçaria por dois parafusos e dotada de um mecanismo de mola. As rodas em plástico dão lugar a belíssimas jantes cromadas e calçadas com pneus em borracha. Necessariamente, o interior é modificado à retaguarda para esconder o mecanismo de mola. O resultado é surpreendente e, em certos aspectos, superior ao original. Segundo o artigo "CF – Making Quality Copies" publicado no "Planet Diecast", estes modelos custariam cerca de metade dos da Tomica, o que, considerando o seu valor lúdico acrescido, terá sido um excelente argumento de vendas. Em Portugal, nos anos noventa, não me lembro de os ver à venda, o que é pena – tê-los-ia comprado todos. ●
