GreenLight – B.A.'s 1983 GMC Vandura "The A-Team"

Metal body painted in metallic gray ("Gun Metal Gray") and black, with printed details. The metallic gray and black colors are separated by a characteristic red stripe ending in a rooftop spoiler. Metal base with silver finish. Glazing represented in transparent plastic, with molded details. Interior details in light gray plastic. Rubber tires, red plastic rims. No suspension. "CALIFORNIA S967238" license plate. The nominal scale is 1:64 and the overall length is approximately 3.2 in. About 2.9 oz. This model represents a customized van, the 1983 GMC Vandura, operated by the A-Team and driven by sergeant/mercenary Bosco "B.A." ("Bad Attitude") Baracus. It was equipped with the 350 cu in (5.7 L), 200 hp (147 kW) Chevrolet "V8" engine. GreenLight reproduces the GMC Vandura as seen on the American action television series "The A-Team", broadcasted in 1983–1987. One of the original vehicles can be seen in the Dezer Car Museum in Miami, Florida.
In the 1980s, watching "The A-Team" (titled in Portugal as "Soldados da Fortuna", The Soldiers of Fortune) was always a very special moment. The scripts were weak and predictable, the van could be slightly different between episodes (or even between scenes) ³, and the idea that some of the plans might work was delusional. But it worked. Each character had important behavioral references for the kids of the time, whether it was the sweet bad mood of "B.A.", the skillful madness of "H.M." ("Howling Mad") Murdock, or the tender smile of reporter Amy Amanda Allen, who filled my less-than-Catholic fantasies. At the time, I never found the van for sale, but with paint and some skill, some Yatming models soon gained a new identity and skidded spectacularly on dirt roads—as seen on television. This GreenLight model fulfills well its mission as a time machine. The casting, proportions, and stance are excellent, the finish is good, and the added plastic details are impeccable. The "turbine" wheels and detailed tires are remarkable. I'm sure "B.A." would be pleased. ●

Nos anos oitenta, ver "The A-Team" (entitulado em Portugal de "Os Soldados da Fortuna") era sempre um momento muito especial. Os argumentos eram fracos e previsíveis, a carrinha podia ser ligeiramente diferente entre episódios (ou mesmo entre cenas) ³ e a ideia de que alguns dos planos podiam resultar, era delirante. Mas a coisa funcionava. Havia em cada personagem referências comportamentais importantes para os miúdos da época, fosse o doce mau feitio do "B.A.", a hábil loucura do "H.M." ("Howling Mad") Murdock ou o terno sorriso da repórter Amy Amanda Allen, que povoava as minhas pouco católicas fantasias. Na altura, nunca encontrei a carrinha à venda, mas com tinta e algum jeito, em breve alguns exemplares da Yatming ganharam uma nova identidade e derrapavam espectacularmente nas estradas de terra—como visto na televisão. Este modelo da GreenLight, cumpre bem a sua missão de máquina do tempo. O molde, as proporções e a postura são excelentes, o acabamento é bom e os detalhes adicionados em plástico são irrepreensíveis. As jantes "turbine" e os pneus detalhados, são notáveis. Decerto que o "B.A." ficaria satisfeito. ●
