Siku – Mähdrescher

Scale model of a combine harvester, the Mähdrescher, made by Siku. This example is reference 1024, included in the "Siku Super" series. It is made in China between 1993 and 2015—this particular example is possibly from 2014. Metal body painted in yellow and olive green, with a pivoting application (grain discharge pipe) in yellow plastic. Olive green plastic base forming the head and the seat in the driving stand; head with reel in yellow plastic. Detailed gray plastic rims, rubber tires with molded details. No suspension. Pivoting pipe for grain discharge; the side supports of the reel touch the rolling surface and produce a revolving motion. The nominal scale seems to be around 1:100 and the overall length is approximately 3 in. About 1.7 oz. This model represents a combine harvester, the 1981–1991 Deutz-Fahr M 36.10, equipped with the 6128 cm³, 170 hp (125 kW) Deutz BF6L913 "L6" diesel engine. Top speed around 13 mph. 

I've always enjoyed watching the combine harvesters working in the fields, their interesting and patient choreography, accompanied by tractors and trailers. Reproducing a complete Deutz-Fahr M 36.10 combine harvester in miniature, within the context of "3-inch" models, to fit into a small package, is an ambitious challenge that Siku decided to accept in the early nineties. The metal and plastic molds are of good quality and harmoniously integrated, but the whole assembly reflects a necessary compactness and simplification, as well as an evident concern for robustness and durability. In my example, the paint job is far from Siku's standards, especially in the color separation. The driving stand is reduced to the seat—the steering wheel is, I presume, optional. In this model that falls short of expectations, the wheels, which combine plastic rims with rubber tires, are surprisingly flawless, have indestructible axles, and roll well. In terms of play value, this small combine harvester has a revolving reel and a pivoting pipe to simulate unloading grain into the trailer. For collectors of tractors and agricultural machinery in general, this model of the Deutz-Fahr M 36.10 combine harvester leaves much to be desired and is somewhat dispensable. But for kids willing to use it outdoors, simulating harvesting on soil and weeds, this robust model certainly offers long hours of educational play. ●

É feito na China entre 1993 e 2015—este exemplar é possivelmente de 2014. Carroçaria em metal pintada em amarelo e verde-oliva, com uma aplicação pivotante (tubo de descarga do grão) em plástico amarelo. Base em plástico verde-oliva, formando a cabeça e o assento no posto de condução; cabeça com moinho em plástico amarelo. Jantes detalhadas em plástico cinzento, pneus em borracha com detalhes moldados. Sem suspensão. Tubo pivotante para descarga do grão; os suportes laterais do moinho tocam a superfície de rolamento e produzem um movimento rotativo. A escala nominal parece ser à volta de 1:100 e o comprimento total é de aproximadamente 75 mm. Cerca de 47 g. Este modelo representa uma ceifeira-debulhadora, a Deutz-Fahr M 36.10, equipada com o motor diesel Deutz BF6L913 "L6", com 6128 cm³ e 170 hp (125 kW). Velocidade máxima na ordem dos 21 km/h.

Sempre gostei de ver as ceifeiras-debulhadoras a trabalhar nos campos, a sua interessante e paciente coreografia, acompanhadas por tractores e atrelados. Reproduzir uma ceifeira–debulhadora Deutz-Fahr M 36.10 completa em miniatura, no contexto dos modelos "3-polegadas", de forma a caber numa pequena embalagem, é um desafio ambicioso que no inicio dos anos noventa a Siku decidiu aceitar. Os moldes em metal e plástico são de boa qualidade e harmoniosamente integrados, mas todo o conjunto reflecte uma necessária compactação e simplificação, assim como uma evidente preocupação com a robustez e durabilidade. No meu exemplar, a pintura está muito longe dos padrões da Siku, sobretudo na separação das cores. O posto de condução reduz-se ao assento—o volante é, presumo, opcional. Neste modelo aquém das expectativas, as rodas, que combinam as jantes em plástico com pneus em borracha, são surpreendentemente irrepreensíveis, possuem eixos indestrutíveis e rodam bem. Em termos de valor lúdico, esta pequena ceifeira-debulhadora possui um moinho rotativo e um tubo pivotante para simular a descarga de grão no atrelado. Para os coleccionadores de tractores e maquinaria agrícola em geral este modelo da ceifeira–debulhadora Deutz-Fahr M 36.10 deixa muito a desejar e é de alguma forma dispensável. Mas para os miúdos dispostos a utilizá-lo no exterior, simulando colheitas sobre terra e ervas, este robusto modelo oferece certamente longas horas de educativa brincadeira. ●
