Paulo Santos – Carris 303

Scale model of a streetcar, the Carris 303 , made by Paulo Santos. This is a one-off example made in Portugal in 2003. Plastic body ( plasticard ) painted in yellow and white, dark brown roof. Ads printed on paper and applied to the sides. Plastic and resin chassis, painted in dark red. Glazing represented in transparent plastic, with painted details. Interior details in painted plastic, featuring plastic figurines. Originally fitted with a functional metal pole, presently with a plastic one from an Hongwell Amarélis model. Presently fitted with a non-motorized chassis (H0e). The nominal scale is 1:87 and the overall length is approximately 3.9 in. About 1.1 oz. This model was based on only two photos and reveals a fair number of imperfections and errors (including the automatic door at the rear!), but essentially represents a streetcar from the Carris 283–322 series, introduced in service in 1951 ¹ –1963 and retired in 1992–1993. It had a Brill 21E truck fitted with two 25 hp (22 kW)...
