Matchbox – Bedford 7½ Ton Tipper

Scale model of a dump truck ¹ , the Bedford 7½ Ton Tipper , made by Matchbox . This example is reference 3, included in the "1–75" series. It is made in England in 1961. Metal cab and chassis painted in grey, metal cargo bed painted in maroon. Cab with metal base painted in black. No glazing. No interior details. Plastic wheels (RW). No suspension. Tilting cargo bed opens tailgate. The nominal scale is 1:85 and the overall length is approximately 2.6 in. About 1.2 oz. This model represents a dump truck  based on the 1960 Bedford TK .  As a kid, in the seventies, I see many Ford Ds, with their distinctive white grilles, driving along our roads. As well as the peculiar Morris FGs, the chubby Hanomag Kuriers or the perky OM Cerbiattos. I also see a lot of Bedford TJs and TKs. Of the latter, I don't know how many units were produced, but in Portugal they sold well. They are seen everywhere, in the most diverse functions.
