Tomica – Datsun No.1

Scale model of an automobile, the Datsun No.1, made by Tomica. This example is reference 60, included in what is usually known as the "Domestic" series, dedicated to Japanese vehicles. It is made in Japan in the mid-1970s. Metal body painted in silver, dark red fenders and running boards. Black plastic roof simulating canvas. Black plastic base. Windshield without glazing. Interior details in red plastic. Plastic wheels reproducing the shoulder blocks, rims with "chrome" finish. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:49 and the overall length is approximately 2.3 in. About 1.1 oz. This model represents an automobile, possibly the 1933 Datsun Type 12 ¹ phaeton. It is made by Tomica in several versions.

This little metal car is where it all starts. My first love, the first model I buy on my own, with my own money, earned on errands and other daily tasks. The year is 1979, and from then on my relationship with toys and models will change. Playing gives way to a taste for research. More than forty years later, this Datsun No.1 still makes me smile. Like on the first time I saw it in the window of the toy store, reflecting with Japanese grace the warm light of that morning. This automobile, the Datsun No.1, is in my collection under the theme "Japanese Vehicles". ●

Modelo à escala de um automóvel, o Datsun No.1, feito pela Tomica. Este exemplar é a referência 60, incluída naquela que é usualmente conhecida por série "Domestic" (doméstica), dedicada a veículos japoneses. É feito no Japão em meados dos anos setenta. Carroçaria em metal pintada em cor prateada, pára-lamas e estribos em vermelho escuro. Capota preta em plástico simulando lona. Base em plástico preto. Pára-brisas desprovido de vidro. Detalhes interiores em plástico vermelho. Rodas em plástico reproduzindo os blocos do ombro, jantes com acabamento "cromado". Sem suspensão. A escala nominal é 1:49 e o comprimento total é de aproximadamente 59 mm. Cerca de 32 g. Este modelo representa um automóvel, possivelmente o Datsun Type 12 ¹ phaeton de 1933. É feito pela Tomica em diversas versões.

Este carrinho de metal é onde tudo começa. O meu primeiro amor, o primeiro modelo que compro por minha conta, com o meu próprio dinheiro, ganho em recados e em outras tarefas quotidianas. O ano é 1979, e a partir daí a minha relação com os brinquedos e modelos vai mudar. A brincadeira dá lugar ao gosto pela pesquisa. Mais de quarenta anos depois, este Datsun No.1 ainda me faz sorrir. Como na primeira vez que o vi, na montra da loja de brinquedos, reflectindo com delicadeza nipónica a luz cálida dessa manhã. Este automóvel, o Datsun No.1, encontra-se na minha colecção sob o tema "Veículos Japoneses". ●

Another lovely version of this Datsun No.1. Here, it presents the body painted in cream, combined with dark red fenders and running boards, and a cream roof. In all versions, the plastic roof simulating canvas is permanently attached to the body. Right hand drive. This example also bears reference 60 in the "Domestic" series. Also in my collection under the theme "Japanese Automobiles". ●

Outra encantadora versão deste Datsun No.1. Aqui, apresenta a carroçaria pintada em creme, combinada com pára-lamas e estribos em vermelho escuro, e uma capota creme. Em todas as versões, a capota em plástico simulando lona encontra-se permanentemente fixada à carroçaria. Volante à direita. Este exemplar é também a referência 60 na "Domestic" series. Também na minha colecção sob o tema, "Automóveis Japoneses". ●

As I wrote above, this is the first "3-inches" I bought new with my own money, back in the 1970s. Love at first sight. Still together – still in love. ● Como escrevi acima, este é o primeiro "3 polegadas" que comprei novo com meu próprio dinheiro, na década de 1970. Amor à primeira vista. ● How does a "real" Datsun Type 11 (or 12) looks and sounds like? Sadly, I didn’t find any interesting video on this automobile.
