Hot Wheels – 1/4 Mile Coupe


Scale model of an automobile in the "hot rod" style, the 1/4 Mile Coupe, made by Hot Wheels. This example is reference 7, included in the "2003 First Editions" series. It is made in Malaysia. Metal body painted in metallic purple. Metal base, unpainted. Glazing represented in transparent plastic. Interior details in "chrome" plastic. Plastic wheels with "chrome" details simulating the rims (5SP). No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:64 and the overall length is approximately 3 in (77 mm). About 1.4 oz (39 g). This model, the 1/4 Mile Coupe, represents a "hot rod", featuring an exposed "V8" engine with oversized exhaust pipes. The name 1/4 Mile Coupe is a reference to the usual distance of a "drag race", a quarter mile – 1⁄4 mi or 1320 ft (402 m) 

In fact, I'm not sure if this 1/4 Mile Coupe is a "hot rod" with the claim to be a racing car ("Fuel Altered"? "Competiton Coupe"?) or a stylish racing car. With the massive exhaust pipes blocking the doors, the only way to access the interior is by lifting the body. On the other hand, it seems way too heavy to be competitive in "drag racing". Whatever it may be, this model looks impressive. This automobile, the 1/4 Mile Coupe, is in my collection under the themes "American Vehicles" and "Muscle Cars & Hot Rods". ●

Carroçaria em metal pintada em cor púrpura metalizada. Base em metal, sem pintura. Pára-brisas representado em plástico transparente. Detalhes interiores em plástico "cromado". Rodas em plástico com detalhes "cromados" a simular as jantes. Sem suspensão. A escala nominal é 1:64 e o comprimento total é de aproximadamente 77 mm. Cerca de 39 g. Este modelo, o 1/4 Mile Coupe, representa um "hot rod", dispondo de um motor "V8" exposto e com tubos de escape sobredimensionados. O nome 1/4 Mile Coupe é uma referência à distância habitual de uma "drag race", um quarto de milha – 1⁄4 mi ou  402 m.

Em boa verdade, não tenho a certeza se este 1/4 Mile Coupe é um "hot rod" com pretensão a carro de corrida ("Fuel Altered"? "Competiton Coupe"?) ou um carro de corrida cheio de estilo. Com os volumosos tubos de escape a bloquear as portas, a única forma de aceder ao interior será levantando a carroçaria. Por outro lado, parece-me demasiado pesado para ser competitivo em "drag racing". Seja lá o que for, este modelo tem um aspecto impressionante. Este automóvel, o 1/4 Mile Coupe, encontra-se na minha colecção sob os temas "Veículos Americanos" e "Muscle Cars & Hot Rods". ●

Miniatures of human and alien figures constituting the series " Colecção Espacial ". This series of 16 miniatures appears in 1970 associated with the Rajá ice cream brand, which offers a figurine on each ice cream purchased. Monochrome plastic, various colors. Changes In December 2022, both websites, " IT'S ONLY BUSES " and " MY POLIGURI COLLECTION ", definitely reached the end of their path, with, respectively, more than 191,000 and 23,000 views. Both websites, " IT'S ONLY BUSES " and " MY POLIGURI COLLECTION ", were born at a time when I thought it was possible to maintain a meeting point for each of my research topics – " IT'S ONLY BUSES ", " IT'S ONLY TRAINS ", " MY POLIGURI COLLECTION ", to mention just a few. Obstacles In editorial terms, 2023 was a year without surprises for the " FUTURE MEMORY | TRANSPORTATION " and " FUTURE MEMORY | TOYS & MODELS " websites. But it is increasingly clear that one life is not enough to share my entire photographic collection.
