Welly – 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

Scale model of an automobile, the 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, made by Welly. This example is reference 52229. It is made in China, possibly in 2016. In Portugal, this model is available as part of the series "Carros Miniatura II", promoted by Cofina in 2016–2017. When buying the "Correio da Manhã" ¹ newspaper, the reader has the option of also buying the miniature. Metal body painted in red ("Cranberry Red"?), two white stripes ("racing stripes") across the hood and deck lid. Black plastic base. Glazing represented in transparent plastic with details molded in the windshield. Interior details in black plastic. Plastic wheels with gray details simulating the rims (7SP). No suspension. The nominal scale seems to be around 1:66 and the overall length is approximately 3.0 in. About 0.9 oz. This model, the 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, is possibly based on the 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS5 Convertible, equipped with the 7443 cm³ (7.4 L), 272 kW (365 hp) Chevrolet L-series (LS5) 454 V-8 engine under the hood. 

This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, made by Welly, based in Hong Kong, is an eye-catching miniature, despite the average paint job. It features interesting details, such as the hood pins and the "Cowl Induction" hood scoop with well molded flap and readable lettering. The rear chrome bumper with the integrated tail lights looks great. Sadly, the front does not come in the same league. Apart from the noticeable gap between the front element and the body, most details are obfuscated by "acres" of "chrome". For those with a knack for detailing, painting the grilles in flat black will make a tremendous difference. As usual with Welly, the base comes fairly detailed.

Carroçaria em metal pintada em vermelho ("Cranberry Red"?), duas faixas brancas ("racing stripes") ao longo do "capot" e da tampa da bagageira. Base em plástico preto. Vidros representados em plástico transparente com detalhes moldados no pára-brisas. Detalhes interiores em plástico preto. Rodas em plástico com detalhes em cinzento a simular as jantes. Sem suspensão. A escala nominal parece ser à volta de 1:66 e o comprimento total é de aproximadamente 76 mm. Cerca de 26 g. Este modelo, o 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, é possivelmente baseado no Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS5 Convertible de 1971, equipado com o motor Chevrolet L-series (LS5) 454 V-8, com 7443 cm³ (7.4 L) e 272 kW (365 hp) sob o "capot".  

Este Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 de 1971, fabricado pela Welly, baseada em Hong Kong, é uma miniatura apelativa, apesar da pintura de qualidade média. Possui detalhes interessantes, como os pinos de segurança do "capot" e o dispositivo "Cowl Induction" com a aba bem moldada e inscrições legíveis. O pára-choques traseiro cromado com as luzes traseiras integradas ficou óptimo. Infelizmente, a frente não está ao mesmo nível. Além da perceptível frincha entre o elemento frontal e a carroçaria, a maioria dos detalhes é ofuscada por "acres" de "cromado". Para quem gosta de detalhar, pintar as grelhas em preto mate fará uma tremenda diferença. Como habitual na Welly, a base vem razoavelmente detalhada.
