Hot Wheels – '57 Plymouth Fury
Scale model of an automobile in the "custom" style, the '57 Plymouth Fury, made by Hot Wheels. This example is reference 2, included in the "2009 Super Treasure Hunts" (or "2009 Trea$ure Hunt$") series. It is made in Malaysia, in 2009. Metal body painted in translucent copper ("Spectraflame Copper"), white roof. Plastic base with "chromed" finish. Glazing represented in transparent plastic. Interior details in white plastic. Rubber tires, "chromed" plastic rims (RR5SP). No suspension. License plate "BRENDON". The nominal scale is 1:64 and the overall length is approximately 3.2 in. About 1.2 oz. This model in the "custom" style, the '57 Plymouth Fury, seems to combine details of both the 1957 and 1958 Plymouth Belvedere Fury 2-door Hardtop Coupes. Curiously, none of those versions feature "B" pillars. In fact, in an article published by Brad on the "ORANGE TRACK DIECAST" website, we learn that the miniature is inspired by a real "custom" car, a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Sedan 4-door Hardtop, then owned by Hot Wheels designer, Brendon Vetuskey. Hence, the "BRENDON" license plate.
The first time I saw a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Fury on the street – I was amazed. To a kid, it looked like something out of the "Jetsons" animated series, a huge, sky blue and white floating spaceship, glistening in the sun, passing me – in "road mode". This '57 Plymouth Fury made by Hot Wheels in Malaysia has an amazing presence. The paint job surprises us by combining the glossy and festive "Spectraflame Copper" with the solemn "off-white" roof. You can't top that. On my example, the printed details are almost perfect. The "chromed" rims with detailed rubber tires look amazing. If this model was candy, it wouldn't last long on the table.

De facto, num artigo publicado por Brad no website "ORANGE TRACK DIECAST", ficamos a saber que a miniatura é inspirada por um verdadeiro automóvel "custom", um Plymouth Belvedere Sport Sedan 4-door Hardtop de 1957, à época pertencente ao designer da Hot Wheeels, Brendon Vetuskey. Daí, a matrícula "BRENDON".
A primeira vez que vi um Plymouth Belvedere Fury de 1957 na rua – fiquei impressionado. Para um miúdo, parecia algo saído da série animada dos "Jetsons", uma nave espacial flutuante, enorme, azul-celeste e branca, a cintilar sob o sol, passando por mim – em "modo de estrada". Este '57 Plymouth Fury feito pela Hot Wheels na Malásia tem uma presença espantosa. A pintura surpreende-nos ao combinar o brilhante e festivo "Spectraflame Copper" com o tejadilho em solene "off-white". Impossível fazer melhor. No meu exemplar, os detalhes impressos são quase perfeitos. As jantes "cromadas" com pneus de borracha detalhados ficam incríveis. Se este modelo fosse um doce, não duraria muito tempo sobre a mesa.

However, most collectors will also agree on average values, based on objective notions of relevance, scarcity and conservation. In this case, I will pay up to €18 for a '57 Plymouth Fury from the Hot Wheels "2009 Super Treasure Hunts" series, loose and in good condition, or up to €30 if boxed and in perfect condition. ●
