Siku – Citroën Traction Avant
Scale model of an automobile, the Citroën Traction Avant, made by Siku. This example is reference 1471, included in the "Siku Super" series. It is made in China, possibly in 2007. Metal body painted in black, with printed details. Black plastic base. Glazing represented in transparent plastic with details molded in the windshield. Interior details in light brown (beige) plastic. Detailed gray plastic rims, rubber tires with molded details (B38). No suspension. Opening doors. License plate "SI-KU 217". The nominal scale is 1:55 and the overall length is approximately 3.4 in. About 1.6 oz. This model represents an automobile, possibly a 1953 Citroën Traction Avant 11 Normale Berline ¹, equipped with the 116.7 cu in (1911 cm³), 57 hp (42 kW) Citroën "L4" engine. Top speed around 71 mph ².
In truth, I'm not an unconditional fan of Siku models. I recognize their quality and precision, but sometimes some of their technical and aesthetic choices stray too far from the vehicle's visual identity. Other times, however, Siku creates remarkable models, like this Citroën Traction Avant. It's true that the headlight application on some examples (like mine) could have been better—but the rest, the casting and some of the technical solutions, the proportions and posture, the details, everything else is superlative in the context of toy models. The paintwork, which appears semi-glossy to me, is excellent, as is the application of the printed details, despite one or two minor distractions. The perfectly functional "suicide doors" are one of my favorite details, and when I open them, one after the other, the view of the interior deepens my enchantment—not even the delicate rearview mirror mounted on the dashboard is missing. Of course, as with many Siku models, this one isn't a prodigious roller. But perhaps that's for the best. So let's have this beautiful Traction Avant, "Reine de la Route", gently parade across the table on a boulevard traced by our imagination, proudly displaying the meticulously detailed rims and tires. Let's stop at a bistrot for a chat and a bite to eat. The evening is going well and promises to get better—let's enjoy it, Francine. À la tienne! Later, we'll continue our journey. ●

Em boa verdade, não sou um apreciador incondicional dos modelos da Siku. Reconheço-lhes qualidade e precisão, mas por vezes algumas das suas opções técnicas e estéticas afastam-se demasiado da identidade visual do veículo. Noutras vezes, porém, a Siku cria miniaturas notáveis, como este Citroën Traction Avant. É certo que a aplicação dos faróis em certos exemplares (como o meu) podia ter corrido melhor—mas o resto, o molde e algumas das soluções técnicas, as proporções e postura, os detalhes, tudo o resto é superlativo no contexto dos modelos-brinquedo. A pintura, que me parece em meio-brilho, é excelente, assim como a aplicação dos detalhes impressos, apesar de uma ou outra pequena distracção. As "portas-suicida" perfeitamente funcionais são um dos meus detalhes preferidos e ao abri-las, uma depois da outra, a visão do interior acentua o meu encantamento—não falta sequer o delicado espelho retrovisor montado sobre o tablier. Claro que como sucede com vários modelos da Siku, este não é um rolador prodigioso. Mas talvez seja melhor assim. Façamo-la pois desfilar suavemente, esta bela Traction Avant, "Reine de la Route", sobre a mesa num boulevard traçado pela nossa imaginação, exibindo vaidosamente as jantes e pneus, ambos meticulosamente detalhados. Paremos a certa altura num bistrot para conversar e comer qualquer coisa. A noite está a correr bem e promete melhorar—aproveitemo-la pois, Francine. À la tienne! Mais logo, seguimos viagem. ●

It's possible that Siku is showing figures associated with a specific version, which I'm not aware of.
