Metal body painted black, with yellow and orange flames on the sides. Exposed engine, with long exhaust pipes passing over the roof. Metal base, unpainted. Glazing represented in transparent plastic. Interior details in red plastic. Plastic wheels, rims with "chrome" finish. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:64 and the overall length is approximately 2.7 in. About 1.3 oz. This model represents an automobile in the "hot rod" style, the Straight Pipes. It is made by Hot Wheels in several versions.
I'm usually a rational and sensible type – but I have my sins. Like the visceral taste for "muscle cars", "hot rods" and "custom cars". Foolish and loud, some almost impossible to drive, as thousands of young people find out in the worst way – I like them, even so. In Europe, they are rare. But in my miniature garage, we find them in good numbers and for almost all – bad – tastes, including some of my own fabrication. This Straight Pipes is love at first sight, right on the supermarket shelf. If anyone ever builds it, it must be apocalyptically uncomfortable, with the engine and exhaust pipes obstructing visibility and abusive fahrenheits and decibels disturbing even the infernal hordes. It is something you love or hate – without hesitation. This automobile, the Straight Pipes, is in my collection under the themes "American Vehicles" and "Muscle Cars & Hot Rods". ●

Este Straight Pipes é amor à primeira vista, logo na prateleira do supermercado. Se alguma vez alguém o construir, deve resultar apocalipticamente desconfortável, com o motor e os tubos de escape a obstruir a visibilidade e os abusivos celsius e decibéis a perturbarem até as hostes infernais. É uma coisa que se ama ou se odeia – sem hesitações. A propósito, a expressão "straight pipes" pode traduzir-se como, escape aberto ou escape directo... Este automóvel, o Straight Pipes, encontra-se na minha colecção sob os temas "Veículos Americanos" e "Muscle Cars & Hot Rods". ●
