GreenLight – 1978 Dodge Monaco "Hunter"

Metal body painted in dark green, with printed details. Metal base with glossy finish. Glazing represented in transparent plastic. Interior details in beige plastic. Rubber tires, black plastic rims with "chrome" hub caps. No suspension. Opening hood, revealing the detailed engine. "1ADT849" license plate. The nominal scale is 1:64 and the overall length is approximately 3.5 in. About 2.4 oz. This model represents an automobile, the 1978 Dodge Monaco sedan, as depicted in the TV series "Hunter", starring Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer. In Police specification, it was possibly equipped with the 440 cu (7.2 L), 255 hp (190 kW) Chrysler RB 440 "big-block" V8 engine. 

As a teenager, I don’t remember watching this TV series, "Hunter". But I do have a fair amount of exposition to the genre – "Hill Street Blues" (1981–1987), "Miami Vice" (1984–1990) and "In the Heat of the Night" (1988–1995), to mention just a few shows. As one would expect, I follow all the investigation steps – and, meticulously, each and every vehicle appearing on the screen. Thus, I am well acquainted with Dodge and Plymouth products. This Dodge Monaco made by GreenLight, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, looks great. The paint finish and printed details are well applied, including the delicate side moldings and perfectly legible Californian license plates. The presence is there. Sadly, quality control let this one roll-off the assembly line with misaligned rims and a couple of tires unaware of what a circle is. It took a while, some tools, technique and patience to make everything look good for the picture. This automobile, the 1978 Dodge Monaco "Hunter", is in my collection under the themes "American Vehicles" and "Movies & TV Series Vehicles". ●

Enquanto adolescente, não me lembro de assistir a esta série televisiva, "Hunter". Como seria de esperar, sigo todos os passos das investigações – e, meticulosamente, cada um dos veículos que aparece no ecrã. Portanto, estou bem familiarizado com os produtos Dodge e Plymouth. Este Dodge Monaco feito pela GreenLight, baseada em Indianapolis, Indiana, tem um óptimo aspecto. A pintura e os detalhes impressos são bem aplicados, incluindo os delicados frisos laterais e as matrículas californianas perfeitamente legíveis. A presença está lá. Infelizmente, o controlo de qualidade permitiu que este saísse da linha de montagem com as jantes desalinhadas e com dois pneus sem saberem o que é um círculo. Demorou um pouco, algumas ferramentas, técnica e paciência para que tudo ficasse bem na fotografia. Este automóvel, o 1978 Dodge Monaco "Hunter", encontra-se na minha colecção sob os temas "Veículos Americanos" e "Veículos de Filmes & Séries Televisivas". ●

Novacar is a series of small toy cars with plastic bodies and die-cast metal bases, available between 1994 and 1996. It is made in Portugal by Majorette through a subsidiary company, Minia Porto, based in Baltar, about 20 km from Porto. The series includes at least 19 references, comprising a wide choice of vehicles, from race cars to an American tractor truck, no trailer provided, in scales around the 1:64th. The " Novacar " series or " Série 100 " appears in Majorette's 1994, 1995 and 1996 catalogs. The word "Novacar" clearly derives from the expression "new car", denoting a sense of freshness and innovation. Plastic tires reproducing the shoulder blocks, rims in yellow. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:62 and the overall length is approximately 2.3 in. About 1.6 oz. This model represents a panel van derived from the 1919  Ford Model T . It is made by Efsi in several versions. It is also used as the basis for the ambulance and fire engine versions.
