Efsi – T-Ford 1919 Panel Van

Scale model of a panel van, the T-Ford 1919, made by Efsi ¹. This example is reference 04, included in the "Old Timers" series. It is made in Holland, possibly in the early 1980s. Metal body painted in brown, including brown fenders and running boards. Silver metal base. No windshield, windows without glazing. Interior details in white plastic. Plastic tires reproducing the shoulder blocks, rims in yellow. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:62 and the overall length is approximately 2.3 in. About 1.6 oz. This model represents a panel van derived from the 1919 Ford Model T. It is made by Efsi in several versions. It is also used as the basis for the ambulance and fire engine versions. As a note of interest, in 1980, Pilen in Spain adds this model to its catalog as the Furgoneta, reference 604, part of the "Old Car" series. This series comprises eight references based on the five castings from the original Efsi series, namely the pickup truck, the tank truck, the tow truck, the panel van (which also appears as ambulance and fire truck) and the sedan.

This T-Ford 1919 is a good basis for further detailing, and many end up as interesting new versions, including some spectacular "hot rods" and "rat rods". Personally, I resist the temptation to add the windshield and doors. In my garage, all these lovely creatures remain in original condition. This panel van, the T-Ford 1919, is in my collection under the themes "American Vehicles" and "Vans & Pickup Trucks". ●

Carroçaria em metal pintada em castanho, incluindo pára-lamas e estribos. Base em metal pintada de prateado. Sem pára-brisas, janelas desprovidas de vidros. Detalhes interiores em plástico branco. Pneus em plástico reproduzindo os blocos do ombro, jantes em amarelo. Sem suspensão. A escala nominal é 1:62 e o comprimento total é de 58 mm. Cerca de 45 g. Este modelo representa uma furgoneta derivada do Ford Model T de 1919. É feito pela Efsi em diversas versões. É também usado como base para as versões de ambulância e carro de bombeiros. Como nota de interesse, em 1980, a Pilen em Espanha adiciona este modelo ao seu catálogo como Furgoneta, referência 604, parte da série "Old Car". In a way, the Ford Model T panel van is the Ford Transit of the 1910s and 1920s, used by all kinds of professionals. Here, for example, we see this small model about to carry a box of delicate glassware. As a note of interest, in the United States, Ford usually sells only the chassis – the body of the van is manufactured elsewhere, in wood, by specialists or, sometimes, even by the vehicle owner. In the United Kingdom, however, Ford offers a standard metal body, which is very close to that reproduced by Efsi – even though the miniature is left-hand drive. Efsi will also produce its 1919 T-Ford panel van as a promotional item, offering collectors a good number of versions. ●

De certa forma, a carrinha Ford Model T é a Ford Transit das décadas de 1910 e 1920, usada por todos os tipos de profissionais. Aqui, por exemplo, vemos este pequeno modelo prestes a carregar uma caixa de delicados artigos de vidro. Como nota de interesse, nos Estados Unidos, normalmente a Ford vende apenas o chassis – a carroçaria da carrinha é fabricada noutro lugar, em madeira, por especialistas ou, por vezes, até pelo proprietário do veículo. No Reino Unido, porém, a Ford disponibiliza uma carroçaria padrão, em metal, que se aproxima bastante da reproduzida pela Efsi – ainda que a miniatura seja de condução à esquerda. A Efsi produzirá também a sua carrinha T-Ford 1919 como item promocional, oferecendo aos coleccionadores um bom número de versões. ●
