Efsi – T-Ford 1919 Fire Truck "Fire Dept N.Y."

Scale model of a fire truck, the T-Ford 1919, made by Efsi. I do not know the reference of this model and to which series it belongs. It is made in Holland, possibly in the early 1980s. Metal body painted in red, including the fenders and running boards. Gray plastic ladder fixed on the roof. "FIRE DEPT N.Y." paper sticker on the sides. Metal base painted in silver. Interior cab details in white plastic. Plastic wheels, yellow rims, plastic tires with molded shoulder blocks. The ensemble simulates wooden "artillery wheels", used on the Ford Model T until the mid-1920s. No suspension. The nominal scale is 1:62 and the overall length is approximately 2.4 in. About 1.6 oz. This model represents a fire truck derived from the 1919 Ford Model T. It is made by Efsi in several versions. As a note of interest, in Spain, Pilen adds this model to its 1980 catalog as the Bombero, reference 608 in the "Old Car" series. This series comprises eight references based on the five castings from the original Efsi series, namely the pickup truck, the tank truck, the tow truck, the panel van (which also appears as ambulance and fire truck) and the sedan.

When I look at this charming fire engine, I wonder how it has been almost forty years since I last played with it. The painting, worn by my child's fingers, so many stories, has aged, the stickers have turned yellow – but the wheels remain ready to turn, determined, on the roads opened by my imagination along the carpet, towards any emergency. Maybe I make up a story later, at the end of the day, and play with it, why not? It feels so good, to smile. This fire truck, the T-Ford 1919, is in my collection under the themes "American Vehicles" and "Fire Fighting Vehicles". ●

Modelo à escala de um carro de bombeiros, o T-Ford 1919, feito pela Efsi. Desconheço a referência deste modelo e a que série pertence. É feito na Holanda, possivelmente no início dos anos oitenta. Carroçaria em metal pintada em vermelho, incluindo os pára-lamas e estribos. Escada em plástico cinzento fixada sobre o tejadilho. Autocolante em papel "FIRE DEPT N.Y." nas laterais. Base em metal pintada em prateado. Detalhes interiores na cabina em plástico branco. Rodas em plástico, jantes amarelas, pneus em plástico reproduzindo os blocos do ombro. O conjunto simula "rodas de artilharia" em madeira, utilizadas no Ford Model T até meados dos anos vinte. Sem suspensão. A escala nominal é 1:62 e o comprimento total é de aproximadamente 61 mm. Cerca de 45 g. Este modelo representa um carro de bombeiros derivado do Ford Model T de 1919. É feito pela Efsi em diversas versões. Como nota de interesse, em Espanha, a Pilen adiciona este modelo ao seu catálogo de 1980 como Bombero, referência 608 na série "Old Car". Esta série compreende oito referências baseadas nos cinco moldes da série Efsi original, nomeadamente, a camioneta, a camioneta-cisterna, o pronto-socorro, a furgoneta (que também aparece como ambulância e carro de bombeiros) e o sedan.

Quando observo este encantador carro de bombeiros, interrogo-me como é que passaram quase quarenta anos desde a última vez que brinquei com ele. A pintura, desgastada pelos meus dedos de criança, tantas histórias, envelheceu, os autocolantes amareleceram – mas as rodas permanecem prontas a rodar, determinadas, nas estradas abertas pela minha imaginação ao longo do tapete, rumo a uma qualquer emergência. Talvez invente uma história mais logo, ao final do dia, e brinque com ele, porque não? É tão bom, sorrir. Este carro de bombeiros, o T-Ford 1919, encontra-se na minha colecção sob os temas "Veículos Americanos" e "Veículos de Combate a Incêndio". ●
