Fanabri – Top Cars

Scale models of automobiles constituting the series "Top Cars". This series of eight models is presumably made in Portugal by Fanabri, or Fanabri – Fábrica Nacional de Brinquedos, based in Marinha Grande ¹, in the late 1980s. It is important to note that while the package shows the Gulliver logo along with Fanabri and "Made in Portugal" letterings, all models come with the Gulliver logo and "Made in Brazil" embossed in their bases. Gulliver, or Gulliver – Manufacturas de Brinquedos, is a well known toy maker established in Brazil in 1969. Was the "Top Cars" series made in Brazil and packed and distributed in Portugal by Fanabri? For all intents and purposes, the origin of these eight models is well known – they are released by Bruder in the early 1980s, as accessories to model railways and they can even be found on Primex ² catalogs, in 1985 as part of the 2772 set and in 1988–1991 as a separate set containing the eight vehicles, reference 1788. These examples show the vehicle's name and "Made in W Germany" in their bases.

All components of these models are made in plastic, including the wheels and axles. No "glazing" is provided. Some examples come decorated with transparent stickers with black lettering – the lettering is easily rubbed-off. The nominal scale is 1:87 and the overall length varies between approximately 1.7 and 2.2 in. About 0.1 to 0.2 oz. These miniatures of automobiles depict, with varying degrees of accuracy, the Mercedes 450 SL, the Porsche 924, the Citroën 2CV, the Golf LS, the Citroën CX, the BMW 730, the Mercedes 300 GD and the VW Bus. Modelos à escala de automóveis constituindo a série "Top Cars". Esta série de oito modelos é presumivelmente fabricada em Portugal pela Fanabri, ou Fanabri – Fábrica Nacional de Brinquedos, sediada na Marinha Grande ¹, no final dos anos oitenta. É importante notar que enquanto a embalagem apresenta o logotipo da Gulliver junto com as inscrições Fanabri e "Made in Portugal", todos os modelos vêm com o logotipo da Gulliver e "Made in Brazil" em relevo nas suas bases. Gulliver, ou Gulliver – Manufacturas de Brinquedos, é um conhecido fabricante de brinquedos estabelecido no Brasil em 1969. Terá sido a série "Top Cars" fabricada no Brasil e embalada e distribuída em Portugal pela Fanabri? Para todos os efeitos, a origem destes oito modelos é bem conhecida – são lançados pela Bruder no início dos anos oitenta, como acessórios para maquetas de comboios e podem até ser encontrados nos catálogos da Primex ², em 1985 como parte do conjunto 2772 e em 1988–1991 como um conjunto separado contendo os oito veículos, referência 1788. Estes exemplares mostram o nome do veículo e "Made in W Germany" nas suas bases.

Todos os componentes destes modelos são feitos em plástico, incluindo as rodas e eixos. Não possuem "vidros". Alguns exemplares vêm decorados com adesivos transparentes com inscrições em preto – as inscrições são facilmente apagadas. A escala nominal é 1:87 e o comprimento total varia entre aproximadamente 43 e 55 mm. Cerca de 3 a 6 g. Estas miniaturas de automóveis retratam, com vários graus de precisão, o Mercedes 450 SL, o Porsche 924, o Citroën 2CV, o Golf LS, o Citroën CX, o BMW 730, o Mercedes 300 GD e o VW Bus. Estes modelos à escala de automóveis constituindo a série "Top Cars", encontram-se na minha colecção sob o tema "Veículos Rodoviários". ●

Cleaning these little things

Clean these miniatures with moist cotton buds, carefully avoiding the stickers – the lettering is easily rubbed-off. ● Limpe estas miniaturas com cotonetes humedecidos, evitando cuidadosamente os adesivos – as inscrições são facilmente apagadas.
